The newly appointed Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Tarik Ahsan presented his credentials to Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo yesterday. During the ceremony, High Commissioner conveyed to the President of Sri Lanka the warm regards of Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Referring to the existing friendly relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, the High Commissioner expressed his eagerness for deepening and broadening the relations further. In this effort, he solicited the support of the host government. In response, President Rajapaksa, while reciprocating greetings to President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh, reiterated that Sri Lanka would continue to work together with Bangladesh in strengthening the bilateral relations and achieving the common goals and aspirations of the people of two countries. He also assured that the High Commissioner would receive full cooperation during his tour of duty in Sri Lanka.
